David Hughes, Veteran, wants to share his story so other veterans feel they can express their experiences comfortably.

During the Welsh Field of Remembrance at Cardiff Castle, veterans shared stories with one another celebrating the people no longer with us.

David said “two of my fathers’ brothers fought in the First World War, they both fought at Mametz Wood on the 12th July 1916”.

He hopes that the Field of Remembrance events continue as they help spread awareness on a major scale.

David said “they were both wounded in that action and brought home to recover from their injuries. Following their return to the service one was sent to Thessaloniki and the other stayed in France, unfortunately he went missing on the 28th of July 1918”.

Fields of Remembrance are held in six locations across the UK, including Cardiff, The National Memorial Arboretum, Westminster Abbey, Gateshead, Swindon, and Belfast.
